Adila Kondic, Counseling Intern

I previously earned a medical degree as Family Physician in Preventive Medicine at Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic.

Currently I am completing a master’s degree in Psychology, Clinical Counseling at Rosalind Franklin University of Science and medicine.

Prior to medical school, I attained bachelor’s degree in English as a Translator/Interpreter, and I am also a certified pharmacy technician.

I always have a strong desire to help others and be of assistance to people with the challenges of daily living. I have been told that I possess a great extent of empathy and understanding of other people’s level of thinking.

As a Doctor of Medicine, I make it easily accessible to connect body and mind and explore how psychosomatic illnesses are developing. Psychosomatic disorder is a disease which involves both body and mind. Some physical diseases are thought to be particularly prone to be made worse by mental factors such as stress and anxiety. The person sometimes struggles to accept the power of the mind over the body. Through different methods of solving individual problems I will get to the core of my client’s issues using intervention techniques to lead us to a final goal that the client wants to achieve. Addressing the underlying factors of a client’s difficulties and providing adequate treatment, we will work to make their life healthier both physically and mentally.

I am excited to join Bailey Behavioral Health for the internship to gain more experience on my path to become an adept clinician. My future interest is to work in couples and family counseling to assist family members understand one another better and bring them closer together. I also enjoy working with young adults going through transitional phases of life and have an interest in supporting those feeling anxiety, depression, or grief. Lastly, I believe everyone should have a safe and healing place to work through life difficulties and looks forward to fostering that environment through her sessions.

In my free time I enjoy reading and exercise with yoga using mindfulness techniques.
