Joshua Armstrong M.S. Therapist Intern
As a student therapist from a rural community, I have developed a deep appreciation for the interconnectedness of people and the significance of giving back to others. This upbringing–and my continuing education at Rosalind Franklin University–has informed my approach to therapy by blending empathy, cultural sensitivity, and evidenced-based practice into a client-centered approach. These client-centered principles encourage individuals to take an active role in their therapeutic journey.
I am learning the latest and most well-supported approaches to therapy. Drawing from cognitive-behavioral principles, I help clients recognize and challenge unhelpful thoughts and behaviors that may be negatively impacting their wellbeing. By addressing these in a safe environment, I hope to empower positive change in the lives of my clients.
More personally, I have a passion for giving back to my community. I began volunteering at a young age and continued to do so through various forms and activities throughout my life. These experiences shaped my understanding of how important human connection is in making a difference for another. My decision to become a therapist is deeply rooted in this philosophy of supporting others through their life struggles.
With a commitment to ongoing learning, professional development, and an open, empathetic mind, I aim to help my clients overcome their challenges and to reach their fullest potential. If anything I have said here resonates with you, I would love the opportunity to work with you.
